St. Helen Church
Howard Beach, NY
The challenge of this renovation project at St. Helen’s Church was to create a new Sanctuary that was classical and inviting while increasing the seating capacity of the church. The church was built in a contemporary style in 1979, but the parish wanted the church to better reflect their traditional Italian heritage. The renovation included the design and fabrication of new custom marble liturgical furnishings, the highlight being a dramatic Mahogany and marble reredos with matching side shrines for Joseph and Mary. New lighting and decorative terrazzo floors were installed and the pews were refinished along with new matching pews custom made for the 166 new seats.
